Please note that Trade Mode is enabled by default on new Chart Modules. Disabling Trade Mode will prevent you from placing new orders, but it will not cancel or modify any existing orders or open positions.

Placing an Order

Once Trade Mode is enabled, various order entry buttons will appear at the top of the Chart Module.

Buy Mkt and Sell Mkt send market orders to buy or sell at the current market price. Buy Bid places a buy limit order at the current bid price, while Sell Ask places a sell limit order at the current ask price.

Clicking a specific price level directly on the chart allows you to place either a Limit or Stop order at that level. Keep in mind:

  • Buy Limit orders can only be placed below the market price. Sell Limit orders can only be placed above the market price.

  • Sell Stop orders can only be placed below the market. Buy Stop orders can only be placed above the market.

If you accidentally click on the chart and trigger the order entry options, simply click anywhere else within the chart to close the menu and avoid placing an order.

Stop Types

The default stop order type is Stop Market.

To change this, click the cog wheel at the top-right of the module, then select Stop Type to choose from the available types: Stop Market, Stop Limit, Trailing Stop, or Trailing Stop Limit.

Modifying an Order

The dropdown next to the Sell Mkt button lets you customize the order quantity before submitting it. To modify the quantity of an existing order, right-click on the order within the Orders Module and select Modify Order.

The ATM Strategy dropdown and settings module can be used to create custom exit strategy bracket orders that are submitted immediately after your entry order has been filled. Learn more about how to configure custom exit strategies here: ATM Strategies

The DAY/GTC buttons and the associated settings module let you define an order’s time-in-force before submission. This setting determines how long the order will remain active before it’s automatically canceled, if it hasn't already been filled or manually canceled. Learn more here: Modifying Order Flags

Please note that canceling an order this way does not close or modify any open positions.

To flatten an open position and cancel all working orders with a single click, use the Close button at the top of the Chart module in the Trade Controls section.

To cancel all orders in the Chart with a single click, select Cancel All, Cancel Sell Orders, or Cancel Buy Orders from the dropdown menu next to the Close button. Learn more here: Close, Reverse, & Cancel Buttons
